JDI and JDI-SA

In 2013, JDI founded JDI-SA as an independent organisation, registered in South Africa, to build on the work that JDI began in South Africa in 2005. JDI and JDI-SA share a core mission: to end sexual abuse in all forms of detention. The two organisations have a strong collaborative relationship, marked by information-sharing, mutual capacity-building, and strategic discussions. JDI-SA is led by its own Board and staff and its work is shaped by the particular context of South Africa. JDI-SA Board decisions are generally made by simple majority vote, and JDI, as founder, has a continuous single seat on JDI-SA’s Board. JDI-SA raises and manages its own funds to support its work.
